On January 8, 1986, the City destroyed Adam Purple's Garden of Eden known world-wide for its magnificent design of colorful concentric circles of flowers, plants, and trees, with a yin/yang central design. Since the destruction of the Garden of Eden, the movement of community gardens lower East Side has continued to grow, but always under the impending doom of the bulldozed.
